Its been such a long time since I busted out a post and wrote to you all. COVID has changed so much around us and you would think a blog would have increased from my part, but, to be honest I couldn't be fucked with anything. My email blew up with so much shit and I imagine yours did too. I probably would have gotten lost in all the spam, the penis enlargement scams and god knows what else.
Well, here I am, back in front of my new laptop that now actually works and writing again.
I guess this post is just to let you know that I am going to post some more shit, some new music that is coming and maybe a podcast with my stories you can't wait to hear :)
Some of the topics I am thinking about writing about are still disability related such as accessibility of this website host called Bandzoogle. For a blind user, it is ok, actually below average for accessibility.Just to write this post I had to use my mouse pointer like a white cane to move around a get it to read the menus to me. typically, a screen reader like JAWS would navigate through the links, buttons and text by simply tapping the arrow keys. When a site uses those hover action links the screen reader is as blind as I am and frankly a peice of noisy shit my wife wants to stand on. So after scrolling the screen, I found the link I needed and clicked away to start this post.
For those who don't know, there are three main screen readers that most people use plus narrator which I guess counts, but still needs work. the others are called Voiceover (For mac), NVDA (PC only) and JAWS (PC only). Each reader has its own positives and negatives and depending on which computer you have, will depend on which application you use.
Voiceover, NVDA & Narrator are all free which is great, because most of us are tight as a fish ass. JAWS on the other hand is quite expensive, and without some funding from government programs or charity, you will find it too far reaching to get this one. Luckily, they are all pretty decent and can get you where you need to go, unless you are posting on Bandzoogle :) LOL.
Before I go, I must say that most of you may have met Karen :) The voice of Karen is our angry bitch we know as SIRI, who has become an icon of the angry voiceover space. I often laugh at the comment of people being called Karen for their community policing of life, telling you what you can and cannot do as it reminds me of our voiceover KAREN LOL. I wonder if the saying came from this?
On a personal note, I have changed my voiceover to be either TOM or Kate from the UK, which is more plesant to the ear.
Catch you soon :)
